Weezer features YouTube celebs on ‘Pork and Beans’

They are geniuses!…Weezer pulled it off incredibly with their new video, ‘Pork and Beans’ which pays tribute to all the famous characters, specimens, ok, YouTube web celebs of all times. Just a week after the video went up on YouTube, they gathered between 3/5 million views…massive. Today they’ve reached 8 million.
These guys really embraced this opportunity, not only is their work a clever one, but playing around with the YouTube concept and celebrating the user generated content these ‘particular’ individuals have come up with, is just plain cool.
They brilliantly blend big hitter virtual videos like Daft Hands and Chocolate Rain by Tay Zonday, with 24 million views and even the weird looking chipmunk/hamster with popped-out eyes is featured in the video, which for some reason amused people to death. Miss Teen USA is also in the video, and about 26 million people saw her on stage along with the ‘Evolution of Dance’ video with, wow, a cool 89 million views. All these characters, mashed up in real life, in one awesome, 4 min. music video.
Wait! Mentos…we can’t forget the Mentos experiment with Coke. That’s also on the video, actually, a great part of it shows the band playing underneath a big fountain representing experiment #137. And Numa Numa, the fat kid who experienced fame for a brief 1:38 in the eyes of… about 15 million people.
Major viral marketing here, people!
Weezer, very cool video.

Very interesting post. Made me realize I was totally wrong about this subject. I guess one learns something new everyday. Mrs Right learned her lesson! Nice, informative blog by the way. Appreciate your blog – Darci Morga
