Yahoo into Social Network Ad Sales
Posted by Admin @ April 1st, 2007 in Social Marketing
Yahoo will take care of the largest part of the advertising sales on social network Bebo, reports Time. Bebo is the largest social network in the UK, and third most popular in the US after Facebook and MySpace. The major social networks seem to be divided now, as Google and Microsoft earlier partnered with MySpace and Facebook, respectively.
Yahoo and Bebo together expect to reach 75 percent of the UK online population, Time claims. In the rest of Europe Bebo is relatively unknown, which is probably caused by the fact that the social network is only available in English.
On Bebo, video ads are being brought by VideoEgg, a video advertisement and content platform. VideoEgg is an interesting Internet business that has long been desired by the major search engines and advertisement networks. Yahoo might now get a foot in the door after all, since they will have to work together with VideoEgg.
Update Sept 17: Bebo has passed Google as the most viewed website in the UK, reports New Media Age.
