NYTimes.com socializes with its readers

NYTimes.com is getting more social and is doing so by introducing a new service called TimesPeople, as an effort to enhance the reach of its content and expand its services to a broader audience.
The beta version of TimesPeople is now available for everyone who enters the site and is visible at the top left corner of the homepage.
As Mashable explains, visitors can either register for free or join the network and begin sharing, commenting and networking with fellow NYTimes readers.
A LiveFeed is also available, Facebook-style, which will not only allow you to read what other members are commenting on but you can also leave opinions, comments, reviews on restaurants, shows, movies, etc.
This sharing also allows you to sign up to custom RSS feeds or Gmail contacts channeled into the TimesPeople network as well as sync any updates to friends on Facebook’s news feeds.
At first it seems like you’ll only be ‘mingling’ with fellow NYTimes readers and community. However, if you’re an asiduous NYTer then this is the spot for you. On the other hand, it would be useful if all other online newspapers could think of broadening their very own ‘newspaper community’ and creating a single, massive community that encompasses them all.
