Tuesday evening 77Agency along with C&M Media PR and Facebook hosted an evening of Social Media Marketing for Fashion and Luxury Brands in New York. The event was held at Soho House and had a great turnout with many curious fashion marketers excited about the new possibilities social media can offer for their brands.

C&M Media, a Manhattan-based fashion, luxury and lifestyle PR agency, teamed up with 77Agency less than a year ago as they realized the relevance social media and other online marketing ventures have to branding.

Angela Mariani, Founder and CEO of C&M, eloquently spoke at the event about how she has seen her industry change in the last couple years with the development of all these new online opportunities and changes in consumer behavior as well as economic conditions.

Marco Corsaro, Founder and CEO of 77Agency, then took the floor to discuss why developing a social media presence is important even for luxury brands. He discussed the already established presence of high-end fashion brands and identified the threat of users creating unofficial Facebook pages on behalf of a brand. He highlighted the main benefits of fashion and luxury brands in social media to be the following:

* Develop brand awareness

* Increase sales both e-commerce and offline

* Develop customized targeted promotional campaigns

* Leverage social media strategies with offline tie-ins

* Test fans’ reaction to new product/service propositions

* Develop a way to manage CRM strategies

* Understand customer sentiment

Katie Zacarian from Facebook US was the keynote speaker and discussed the many ways to effectively engage a brand’s targeted consumer audience using the Facebook platform. She touched on these topics:

* Facebook’s core values

* Statistics regarding Facebook’s current users (and no, they’re mostly not college students) and worldwide reach

* Facebook working to reflect your core marketing objectives

* New engagement ads

* Ways to track and analyze Facebook campaigns while gathering important data about the various types of consumers who engage with your brand

* Promoting your Facebook presence through offline activities

Thanks to all our guests and we would appreciate any feedback you have from the event. Another great evening hosted by 77Agency, and we greatly appreciate C&M Media and Facebook being a part of it!

Facebook ranks at the top of the list, with 74% of respondents indicating that they are currently signed up for the site. Less than half of Americans (42%) indicated that they use MySpace, compared to one-third (34%) who reported that they use Twitter and 15% who reported using LinkedIn.
