Facebook Connect’s latest implementations

A few updates on Facebook issues and implementations.
Number one, watch out for the latest phishing scams, as TechCrunch puts it phishers are hitting up ‘friends for cash’. What’s it all about? Hackers are breaking into people’s personal accounts, basically stealing people’s identity to try and trick friends into feeling sorry for them until eventually giving them cash.
What are scammers doing? Identity theft. They pretend to be one of your network friends, do a little bit of research on personal info, and engage in conversation with you until trying to get a ‘loan’ from you.
On the other hand, Facebook Connect continues to ‘connect’ people on the web. I still believe this is a great instrument to appeal to potential and existing customers and a marketing channel that allows for that seamless integration between your brand/product and Facebook’s entire network.
A good collection of businesses have already implemented Facebook Connect into their websites. Mashable does a good job in grouping a handful for us along with the reason the business finds it beneficial for the reach and interactivity of its product.
Joost is first on the list and also one of the first sites to join Facebook Connect. The integration of Joost into the popular social network provides users with all the latest news and updates on the website plus news feeds which can all appear on your and your friends profile on Facebook.
Standing second on the list is Vimeo which has implemented the tool as a way to facilitate the uploading video process for everyone while providing a simple way to sign up for the video sharing website.
As we keep scrolling down we find, RedBull, the energy drink which has instead launched its Facebook Connect primarily for branding through social media.
Last but not least, 77Lab. How we’re using Facebook Connect: brand building, networking and cultivating good client relationships. Why is it a winners for us: it serves as a seamless integration between us and our entire network of friends and clients, not to mention a great traffic builder. The closer we stand to our network of contacts the more exposure we gain making easier to interact and to keep everyone up-to-date about the latest in new media
The opportunities are endless and rather than having businesses create their very own social network (which will take them nowhere) they can instead penetrate the mainstream and push their social graph into the most remote corners of the web with the adoption of this tool.
To look further into the Top Ten list of Facebook Connect implementations check out Mashable’s blog post.
