Barcamp is a worldwide movement of user-generated conferences that has grown to become more and more popular amongst enthusiasts, new media marketers and IT professionals each year. Anyone who’s passionate about blogs, social networks, online video, journalism, start-ups and venture investments is fit to participate and/or organize barcamps.
A Barcamp is a form of conference that was established in 2005 when the first event of this kind took place in Silicon Valley. After that it became extremely popular among IT specialists in North America and Western Europe until successfully spreading to other parts of the world.
This year BlogCampCEE is organized for the second time in Kyiv, Ukraine on Oct. 17-19th and it’s estimated to gather approx. 1000 new media specialists, bloggers, entrepreneurs and investors from Central and Eastern Europe.
Barcamps usually take place in very sociable atmospheres where participants network and hold stimulating discussions, open presentations, workshops and round tables with fellow colleagues and key players within the sector.
One good aspect about barcamps is that they serve as an opportunity to introduce your company and projects to potential investors, to get evaluations of your ideas from industry professionals or strike new partnerships. One of the special events that will be held at the upcoming BlogCampCEE is Investor Day, which will provide opportunities for individuals to seek funding for their start-up projects as well as feedback from investors and participants as to get a clearer picture of the venture capital business.
If there is no barcamp in your region you can organize it. Learn barcampers experience here - Ten Steps to Organizing a Barcamp, BarCamp Baltics: finally over or just begun? or by visiting Organize a Local BarCamp.
