77Academy talks Social in the Netherlands

A couple of months ago the 77Academy was invited to host a guest lecture, on the 16th of April 2009 at TiasNimbas Utrecht in the Netherlands. TiasNimbas is the Business School of Tilburg University and Eindhoven University of Technology.
Of course after saying Yes! to this great opportunity, we had to decide on a topic that would attract this particular audience and so after much pondering we decided that the topic of choice would be Social Media (what else…). The official title “2008-2009 The Social Revolution: How changing online consumer behavior affects marketing”.
Now, I am personally still getting used ( and in all honesty trying to stay away from it…) to the impact that Social Media has on (online) marketing and our lives, but that’s a very different story, which I might share with you some other time!
Back to business, we were given a two-hour slot at a great location with a decent number of people who signed up to attend our guest lecture, so there was work to be done!
The objective of the lecture was to provide the students with an insight into the Social Media scene and its various players. We also discussed online PR and various Social Media strategies that companies can choose to adopt. Some social media tools were analysed based on their benefits and drawbacks and in conclusion we provided some examples of Social Media campaigns developed by 77Agency (ie: Athletes World, Dimensione Danza).
The audience was a mix between Dutch and foreign students who showed great interest, asked questions and participated in discussions. The university organized drinks and nibbles after the lecture and most of the students remained on-site and came to us for further information regarding our 77Academy program. All in all, it was a very successful evening and surely the start of a great (business) relationship!
Ps Thanks to TiasNimbas for inviting us, we enjoyed our evening and hope to be back soon!
Ps Question: “Once I got invited to a party but could only see the details on Facebook. I do not have a Facebook account. What did I do?”
a. I opened a Facebook account and got the details
b. I called the person and asked for the details
c. I did not go to the party
d. I opened a Twitter account and organized my own party!

Great article and its great to see 77’s expertise being transferred to younger generations. I sure the lecture will have inspired many of the students to become a part of our fast paced industry (via the 77academy NL of course!).
