Bloggers! you can now officially forget about whether your blog is making money or not. Well, this applies to just about everyone, not just bloggers. Making money is the keyword here, and like John Chow comments on his blog, its really hard to fake it ’til you make it, so you either know what you’re talking about or you’ll be lost in oblivion.

But my point here is different, it refers to yet the most interesting and mind blowing search engine ever created. I know I’m exaggerating, but it involves money-music to our ears.

Missingmoney.com, according to Search Engine Watch’s blog, is the ‘most valuable vertical search engine ever created’. See, I’m not the only one exaggerating now. Basically, this initiave was led by the states with the principle of presenting a program which enables property owners to track down and claim their long lost assets. It’s worth clarifying these not include real estate properties. This database is the only one endorsed by the NAUPA (National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators) and all the participating states.

What’s so good about this? everything. It’s a free search for free money, and you know how everyone loves free stuff. The system allows you to run a national online search by just putting in your Zip Code, First Name and Last Name, then it’s the state’s law all unclaimed property or money is returned to you. Sounds good to me. Missingmoney.com presents us with the 5 most common types of unclaimed property :

* Bank accounts and safe deposit box contents
* Stocks, mutual funds, bonds, and dividends
* Uncashed checks and wages
* Insurance policies, CD’s, trust funds
* Utility deposits, escrow accounts

Aren’t you glad you no longer have to wait for your loving, multi-millionaire grandmother, whom you’ve never met in your entire life, to die in order to inherit some doe? Just pray there’s something there for you.

Do people really loose track of these things? I mean, if anything was any realizable value, wouldn’t you know and be keeping track of it yourself. Am I missing something here?
