Google a.k.a CIA? Is Google working hand-in-hand with secret agencies?

Over the weekend I ran into an online article by the SFGate (San Francisco Chronicle), which I’m sure has, once again, caused a lot of controversy and raised a second question mark. The specific article is titled “Google has lots to do with intelligence”, and what it basically outlines is Google’s participation as a technology outsource provider to America’s intelligence agencies. Yes, the CIA would be one of them. Many people, when they hear Google, think search engine and that’s it. But what they don’t know is that this ‘search engine monster’ is light years ahead of…just about all of us.

As part of their expanding strategy, Google has found that supplying servers for search and storing data to America’s government has brought them quite a good business, which in turn has been positively exploited by America’s government itself. However, the reason I mentioned the second question mark on my opening phrase is because back in 2006, a similar debate was exposed where Google was accused of ‘being in bed’ with the CIA. People accuse Google of working too up close and personal with spy agencies rather than focusing on the real business.
Are you kidding me?

On one hand, Google is getting a whole bunch of contracts on behalf of the various American intelligence entities to provide search appliances so that agents can easily browse and target government data. Also, Google was the mastermind behind Intellipedia, modeled after Wikipedia, which is a network that allows for agents to share and diffuse intelligence information online. Google provided both the servers which support this online network, as well as, the software which permits agents to navigate to and from messages and intelligence.

On the other hand, why do you think Google was chosen for this business? I would dare say cause there hasn’t been anyone out there who has measured up to Google’s precocious and majorly advanced technology and expertise.

So why wouldn’t Google work with the CIA and all intelligence agencies in the US?

My opinion is…Hey Google! if you got ‘it’, flaunt it.
