European Union privacy lobby now also to investigate Google’s rivals

77Lab reported earlier that Google’s privacy protection and its use of personal data were under revision after the Article 29 Working Group filed complaints at the European Union. Now, logically, also Google’s rivals such as Yahoo and MSN are being investigated, reports InfoWorld.
It is good to know Google is not under any special scrutiny. That being said, the future of marketing – highly personalized – depends on data being gathered from Internet users. It is still unknown where the border is between ‘personally catered to’ and ‘too intrusive’.
