Facebook for Marketers: an opportunity not to be missed
Posted by Manuela Barreto @ October 2nd, 2009 in 77News

Another insightful event hosted by 77Agency and Buongiorno Marketing Services came to a close October 1st, 2009. Last night, the Bulgari Hotel in Milan was host to many top tier marketers who booked their place at the seminar ‘Facebook For Marketers’ with guest speakers Diego Oliva, Commercial Director Southern Europe-Facebook, Daniela Gallo, Digital Marketing Manager-Buongiorno Marketing Services and Pier Ludovico Bancale, CEO-BootB.
First up was Marco Corsaro, Managing Director and Founder of 77Agency, who discussed about the shifting balance of power. Initially, consumers were exposed to brands and accustomed to ads on television and on magazines. Nowadays, how the power is now shifting in the hands of the consumer where consumers are now increasingly exposed through social media, blogs, forums, online communities and websites.
Diego Oliva was up next, where he discussed Facebook’s very simple approach to technology. The idea is to try to emulate what happens in everyday life on the internet and thus ensure that people are able to meet, exchange information, pictures, opinions, organize events, etc. … And in this context, try to integrate brands in these conversations. There are different ways to talk about a particular brand, one of which is by creating a dialogue – commented Diego Oliva- Whatever you choose to communicate on this medium must be ‘relevant’ to the recipient.
Each person is different, every target audience has different interests, therefore, it is important to segment the target market and use different solutions for each identified group. For marketers, Facebook offers the possibility to measure the ROI on this instrument by taking into account the feedback they obtain from fans and customers to ‘fix’ their communication strategy during its development.
Daniela Gallo from Buongiorno MS talked about mobile social media and how it presents itself as an important opportunity for brands morevoer combining it with the use of social media. To close, Pier Ludovico from BootB, the online hub for creative pitches cooked up by individuals from all parts of the world, talked about the importance of creative off and online marketing campaigns and the methodology of this new and innovative creative pitching engine.
