Post Highlights
- Share files with your Twitter contacts in a simple way
- Monitor your visitor’s activity and notify Twiterverse about specific searches executed on your site
- Receive richer Twitter email notifications whenever someone follows you
- Embellish your Twitter background for free!

If you have been looking for more efficient and useful ways to make the best out of your Twitter account, the following represent a mashup of special functions that can help you enhance your micro-blogging experience.
Let’s start-off with those email notifications that basically tell you absolutely nothing about the user who’s now following you. Although I doubt twitterers are picky about who to follow and followers in general (unlike some Facebookers who really expose themselves), it’s always good to get a little more information than needed. Twimailer is a service that offers rich information about those who are starting to follow you; latest tweets, number of followers they have, plus their bio.
As ReadWriteWeb explains, set-up is very simple, you just have to make sure you provide Twimailer with the same email address that’s associated with your Twitter account, then the service provides you with a unique address which you then need to include in your Twitter settings field and you’re done. On the other hand, (and Chris Pirillo was initially joking about this), if you want to share documents or attach a doc to your tweet, you can do so by using Filesocial.
Again, sign up to Filesocial using your Twitter id and password and you’re ready to share any file with fellow twitterers. The same can be uploaded in all formats, pdf, doc, mp3, jpg, gif, then Twitter will post your tweet including a link to your file which people can then download. Just remember your file is visible to everyone, so think twice about what you wish to upload.
Another useful Twitter tool, particularly companies, is sitetweet, a service that empowers you to post messages on Twitter concerning predefined user behaviors as well as monitor the onsite activity of your visitors, as described in a Killer Startups review. Sitetweet also offers real-time metrics for your site as well as alerts for goal completions and notifications from visitors from specific sources.
And last but not least, how can you make a killer Twitter background that’s not so time consuming? Free Twitter Designer prevents you from having to pay a graphic designer and saves you from having to choose out of Twitter’s splendid selection of backgrounds. Sorry Twitter, options aren’t that great. Free Designer is a friendly application that lets you tweak, change, manipulate and get as creative as you want. Chris Pirillo gives us a bit more details on how to go about creating your customized background.
Ok guys, now go have some fun!
