Windows Mobile Live Search tests speech recognition
Posted by Admin @ April 1st, 2007 in Mobile Marketing
Windows Live Mobile Search is testing a speech recognition function for filling in the search field, reports Dutch Cowboys (in Dutch). It is far from bugless, but we at 77 think the feature has a lot of potential in the mobile advertising market. Right now, the quest among the search engines to get mobile search users is all about functionality. Adding speech recognition is crucial in our eyes as it is much more convenient – if it works well – than using the tiny buttons on your phone.
We know that Google has speech recognition developed through their free phone line service in the US 1-800-GOOG-411 so they are keeping up, and mobile search sites will get competition from pure play phone lines such as 1-800-FREE-411 as well, so the race is on. If you want to give the new function of WLMS a try, surf to http://ls4m.speechmonkeys.com/ on your mobile to download the program.
