Mobile Search Marketing; wait for current search engines to improve
Posted by Admin @ April 1st, 2007 in Mobile Marketing
Until mobile search is up and running it is unlikely that the use of mobile Internet is going to take off the way “regular” Internet did. Marketing on the mobile web will probably spread from the mobile search sites, but for that to happen things will need to change, according to the united mobile network providers.
However, Google and Yahoo will most likely not get competition in mobile search from the GSM Association. The GSM Association, which represents over 100 mobile operators, is not trying to create their own mobile search machine, despite rumours that pointed in that direction. Rob Conway said on the FT Mobile Media conference ‘Why do it when someone else could it better?’ reports BusinessWeek.
The united mobile networks clearly have faith in Google and Yahoo to be able to provide their mobile customers in the long run with targeted search results, but Conway states mobile search needs improvement. Targeting was one of the key points Conway mentioned: ‘Mobile search has to be really, really targeted to bring you something very quickly you want to act on’.
