iPhone iPhone iPhone: not the revolution
Posted by Admin @ April 1st, 2007 in Mobile Marketing
By now, you might have already heard of it: the iPhone is out today. For approximately $500 it’s yours. It received both good and bad (p)reviews, and not everyone is certain if it is going to be a success or not. For live reviews of the first iPhones bought in a store, check Wired.
What is clear, however, is the fact that the introduction of the iPhone is the beginning of a new era in mobile content. As a result, the face of mobile advertising will change with it.
But according to 77, the introduction of the Apple gadget is not the ‘revolution’ of mobile advertising. For that, it is too pricy and only aimed at the top end of the market. But then, as Seth Godin points out on his blog, it is not a bad tactic to first win over a small group of involved users that talk a lot among themselves (blogs, anyone?) and then go for the masses.
When these masses have followed and – in a year or two – the iPhone is the basic standard, the mobile marketers of today have some good ideas on how to use the medium. Interviews we have done with leaders of major mobile content and advertising companies in Italy will be posted after the weekend. We can tell you now that the level of measurement of mobile and viral marketing results is rather impressive.
