Ford and Volvo satisfied with mobile advertising

Dutch news site Emerce reports that both Volvo and Ford experimented this year with mobile advertising in the Netherlands. Both car manufacturers were satisfied with the results: the clickthrough rate was about 1.5 percent. Ford, being the most recent to try out mobile advertising, further saw 25 percent of the visitors download an advertisement from their mobile site. The advertisements were run on three mobile sites, among which was that of a national newspaper. Jigal Schrijver of HotSMS, the Dutch company that advised Ford in creating their mobile advertising campaign, explains the relatively high clickthrough rate by the fact that readers have more attention for a mobile advertisement. The higher attention is caused by the fact that there is less advertising competition on a mobile site, and less content. Elsewhere on this site we have published an interview with Mister Schrijver.
