The Ooyala Video Experience- Coming Soon to a computer near you!

Some of you may have already heard the rumor about Ooyala Blacklot (Ooyala means “cradle” in South Asian), and its ongoing fund raising rounds. But wait, some people may not quite know what Ooyala even is… yet. This particular venture is, as Forbes.com explains, a self-serve video-management platform offering high-quality interactive viewing. Basically, not only will Ooyala bring a cutting-edge, quality video technology to you(the advertiser) and viewers, but it will also allow you to monitor, syndicate, track, and monetize your online videos. Some of the features Ooyala offers include channel viewing, analytics, syndication, and the one I find the coolest is targeted advertising.
This is where the magic comes in. Ooyala will allow viewers to interact with videos. For example, if you find yourself watching video X and see a certain element within video X that you want to get your hands on; like a pink bicycle to match with your company’s, particular yet funky, pink logo- simply grab or click on the item and you will have initiated your purchase process. Hear that people? This is digital advertising taken to a whole new level; precise product placement in “video”-kching!
Because of their young nature, and in continuation to my opening phrase, Ooyala is still in the search for funds. Last year, it managed to take first place in the Amazon Web Services Start-Up Challenge, which brought them in the modest sum of $100,000, and most recently, it raised $8.5 million led by Sierra Ventures, making their total amount of funding to $10 million.
The Ooyala video player will allow users to view HD Quality Video without the need to download a Plugin to see the content. For the advertiser, any file size or length of movie is acceptable, and by using the controlled syndication tool you can decide when and where your video plays on the internet, thus promoting brand visibility only on sites related to your product or business. Furthermore, Ooyala Analytics permits you to monitor clients, as well as, client behaviors in terms of how much time they’ve watched your video, plays, rewinds, drop-off points, along with 20 different standard reports on your specific video or video channels.
What next? I’d personally love to see this baby work its magic!
