Are users opting-out of Yahoo’s personalized advertising?

As you may have already heard, quite a few questions have been raised regarding the growing tendency of targeting consumers with tailor-made ads.
Just recently, Google ammended an opt-out option, the DoubleClick ad tracking- across all its sites-. Yahoo! has recently started moving along the same lines, however, it claims it has always been quite clear and honest when it comes to privacy issues.
The topic of privacy has become a mainstream issue specially after a letter was sent on behalf of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where it inquires other 34 companies about their privacy matters and how they go about implementing them on their online advertising practices.
The only small detail, as explained on ReadWriteWeb, is if users are really noticing this new option, or even better, do they care? So far, Yahoo! has claimed that only 75,000 users visited its current opt-out site in July, which is not a high number. Then again, it has only been running for a short while, so I guess time will only tell if this will be a useful/important instrument for people at all.
