Obama and McCain discuss Technology

Let’s be clear, the issue of technology is clearly not the #1 issue with Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. John McCain, however, they both show to be disposed in resolving technology issues in America.

While Obama has many more supporters in the tech and Internet sectors in terms of numbers, including Google CEO Eric Schmidt, McCain’s include Cisco CEO John Chambers, former eBay CEO Meg Whitman and former Hewlett-Packard head Carly Fiorina.
For many viewers, the 2008 election has become a kind of hybrid between online and offline communication- the offline aspect being fully dominated by Barack and Co. more than McCain & Co., that much we’ve realized. But it is definitely worth mentioning that many of the media outlets influencing the 2008 election simply were not around four years back.
YouTube did not exist, and Facebook did exist, it just didn’t reach beyond the Ivy League crowd.
The Barack Obama fan page on Facebook has over 2 million supporters and over 490,000 wall posts…!
Both Presidential candidates have their own official YouTube channels; with the Democrat channel displaying over 116,000 subscribers and over 18,000,000 channel views, while Sen. John McCain’s channel collected around 28,000 subscribers and a little over 2 million viewers.
These sites and countless others have redefined how many Americans get their political news.
According to a study run by Pew Research, 39% of registered voters watched somekind of campaign-related video online, compared to 24% from last year.
What’s impressive out of all these facts is the emergence of this new medium and the integration of the different channels. There has been some massive change in the media landscape, can’t wait to see what happens in 2012.
Go Obama!!!
