eBay delivers audio advertising over mobile

A service that eBay recently introduced to its customers now comes with advertising, Clickz reports. eBay users that bid on an object, can be notified by a phone call alert when the auction runs out, so they can place a final bid over the phone.
UnWired Nation, with its partner Apptera, offers this service free of charge to eBay, only to deliver relevant marketing messages along with the phone call.
An excellent example according to us, of distributing wanted content for free and fund it by advertising. It shows that you do not even need to make the content yourself to make money out of it, as long as you have a good distribution system.
From a marketer’s point of view this looks like an opportunity. If the distributing system knows the purpose of the outgoing call – which it does – it is easy to target a potential customer. And as mobile technology is making giant leaps forward, these potential customers will soon be able to see your product on the phone’s screen, read reviews and buy it directly. In that sense, voice marketing is only the beginning.
