Idée, the new Google for images
Posted by Manuela Barreto @ August 29th, 2008 in Cool Stuff

Idée is the cool visual search company behind the infinite images and videos found online. You could even consider it the Google for images rather than words.
Leading imaging firms such as Adobe Systems has used it as its video and image supplier. Idée has become quite popular and vastly used in the stock imagery industry. As part of its repertoire of products it offers a series of software applications including TinEye, PixID and Piximilar.
What I found most interesting was its Idée Lab, a sort of playground where you can search, create and insert images. I was particularly enjoying playing around with the Multicolour Search Lab.
This one right here is a hub for millions and millions of images available on the Internet, however your search is mainly based on the color of your choice.
Let’s say you pick three colors from the Pantone table to the right: blue, black, and purple as shown on the example below. Within seconds a panel of random images containing only the colors blue, black and purple is displayed.

Naturally, the more colors you choose from the Pantone, the more vivid and complex your pictures will be.
Go to Idée and start playing!
